twitter ads.

24 Mar

Every social media network we have today is filled with advertisements.
We cannot get away from them. No matter what page we are on, they are there.
The networks take note of our jobs, interests, etc and show us ads based on those things.
I started to notice adverstisements more because I am an advertising major, so I started keeping a better look out for what is around me. Since I have started paying attention, I have noticed so many ads in places that I never would have expected them. It is completely fascinating to me.
Some advertisements that I have been paying more attention to lately are the ads on Twitter.

In this Survey of the Professional Media course each student was required to open their own Twitter account.
I already had one, so it was no big deal for me. I have had a Twitter for a while now. I get excited over people following me, and I love going on a search for new exciting people for me to follow and learn from.  I absolutely love Twitter for various reasons.

For this article review, I thought maybe I would look into something that involved advertising on Twitter.
Then I came across an article titled “Making Money By Twitter Advertising”
(you can read it yourself by clicking this)

Twitter is an excellent tool for communication, and great way to advertise.
Twitter makes money off of companies who want to post advertisements on the site. The business pays Twitter a volume depending on the length of the ad and the amount of space it will take up.
Advertisements must be 140 characters or less and are labeled as promotions in the Twitter stream.
Here’s something I didn’t know: advertisers bid on search phrases on the Twitter site.

If a companies ad does not attract a large number of people, it is removed.
So you have to make it impressive.
Think of how much it takes to catch our attention these days. We are always looking for something new, something different, something exciting and that stands out at us.
Because of this, companies who want to post up advertisements on social media websites have to work extra hard to make sure the content that they are putting out there is enough to grab our attention and keep it on their product. Think of how hard that would be. In 140 characters, these companies have to find the perfect words and picture to catch our eye and spark our interest.

Of course people could try to advertise things concerning their business just through basic tweets on their free Twitter account, but there are not as many people who are going to see it. If you want the numbers, you have to fork out the money. But you can’t fork out the money if you’re not prepared to present something that is going to catch the attention of this generation.

and the winner is…

Let’s face it: Apple dominates in the world of technology. From the iPod to the macbook to the iPhone, Apple has brought major competition to all other media creators. The more recent creation that boosts this “domination” is the iPad.

In The Beginning…
Apple introduced the first iPad in April of 2010. The iPad was the first successful tablet computer. It is bigger than a phone or iPod, but smaller than a laptop. Everyone of all ages and backgrounds wanted one, and still does. I see college students who use it in class, teenagers who use it to play games, pastors who use it in church, people use it in business meetings, etc. We have an iPad in my home and my whole family loves it. My dad takes it with him to meetings and on trips. My stepmom uses it to read. My sister loves to play the games and take photos. The iPad is an invention that was simply made for everyone. At the end of 2010, Apple had sold 15 million iPads; and it is predicted that they will sell about 34 million more by the end of 2011. The continuation of sales is expected because of the new iPad 2.

Something Better…
Steve Jobs, the chief executive of Apple, introduced the new version of the iPad on March 2. What are the perks? Well, the new iPad is one third thinner than the original. It is faster, being predicted that video performance will be 9 times faster than before. The new iPad is also almost a pound and a half lighter. There is both a front and back camera and also comes in black and white versions.

Apple created and released the new iPad to stay in front of other competitors (for example Samsung, Motorola, HP) who were releasing similar tablets. They have definitely succeeded. Steve Jobs is not at all concerned with other companies beating his product. He stated that the iPad 2 would leapfrog rivals and keep Apple as the top dog in the market. It is hard for competitors to beat Apple because no other company can currently release a product like this one and be able to beat (or even match) the features or price of the iPad.

Once again, Apple wins.
What will they come out with next?
